The Pseudonym

Fiction vs NonFiction

Fairlytale vs Truth Hits The Road

Fiction Writers live in fantasy.

My NonFiction book is unbelievable yet true

I just memorialized the facts

Of course changed the names

But a pen name seemed high school drama

(her writing scattered, her reasoning dull, and her "memorialization" is the reality of her mental illness and not truth)

Your own life and personal experiences can be great inspiration for your novels. Whether it’s one scene you slip into your novel, or an entire novel based on a real event, personal experience can bring life and realism to your writing. I have written a manuscript about an entire event including a stalker, family, friends, and acquaintances. We are working on our third rewrite (my husband and I) with a very reputable publisher who has not asked for one dollar and will publish at their cost because they believe in the words. Actual dates, court manuscripts, text messages, emails, cards that were sent to me, etc., are included as fiction but actual events that have happened. Part of the novel has already been published into an e-book with surprising results and revenue for more than a year. I love my pseudonym; I am real, I am doing what I set out to do, and I am praying for wonderful retirement monies. No drama; just a wonderful story of truth written in fiction form! If "fantasy" sells, why not??

What is the difference between an alias and a pseudonym? Alias, nom de plume. Compare allonym (def. 1). The English noun pseudonym comes via the French adjective and noun pseudonym, in French originally meaning “ (pertaining to) one who writes or publishes under an alias,” and then “ (pertaining to) a name chosen by someone to conceal their identity.”
