"If one's mind is at peace, the world will appear peaceful."
~ Ramana Maharshi
This quote is powerful because it points me to an essential truth about the power of the mind; whatever is happening in our minds is what we project to the world. If my mind is peaceful, everything around me appears peaceful. If the mind is stressed, looping, or filled with conflict and drama, then peace will be elusive!
Many of us hold tightly to familiar ways of thinking about ourselves, about our relationships, other people, and situations. Some people resort to stalking and harassment. How sad that if the world doesn't agree with my views, we are made to suffer. We play victim; he should not have done that, I can't seem to get what I want out of life, it isn't fair! Each of these thought patterns brings about an emotional reaction that contributes to the cycle of discontent. Unfortunately, it is this cycle that begins to define our experience of the world. We become rigid in our thoughts; we are confined to our past; we refuse to consider any fresh perspectives or new possibilities.
This past year I have breathed new life into my rigid thought patterns. I was afraid of what people thought of me, the judgments of past failures, old familiar thought patterns that are destructive, threats of harm, spying and following! This was not serving my peace and happiness. When I abandoned my familiar views that divided and separated me, I found a profound deeper connection that has released huge potential, incredible opportunities, financial success, and a peaceful mind. Ignoring the disapproval and harassment of particular others as they are still stuck in their ruts of unhappiness and discontent.
I love my "Fueled by Fire" community that has taken me in with love, care, mentoring, and instruction! I have branched out into archery, painting, and another college scholarship. This is what is becoming the best version of myself. I am grateful for a family that has supported and loved me and a God that sees my unlimited potential!
