Finding faults in others is a doubly disturbing characteristic because, besides the fact that we are committing a sin by doing so, we fail to recognize our own shortcomings and continue living the illusion that everything about us is perfect and without fault or flaws. I am sure we all know someone like this. Perhaps even ourselves.
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing." (Matthew 6:1-3)
As I prepare for retirement, my husband and I have moved into a new adventure. Of course, the RV traveling and cruises will continue in our downtime but we have been praying for an additional opportunity. Last year, we sold and gave away produce from our gardens. It was a lot of work and yet fulfilling. We butchered two steers and a pig to fill our freezers and that of our children, and a close friend. I bottled over 100 quarts of different fruits and vegetables; 60 pints of raspberry, blackberry, apricot jams, and apple butter (which I sell). Today, I received our business license, nursery license, small producer license, limited liability filed and accepted with the state, my green houses have arrived, irrigation pumps, tanks, lines are in, and we are ready to start our new growing year officially as Spotted Horse Acres & Farm, LLC. My quilting and crocheting business are now selling under Spotted Horse Creations. My boutique is filled to the brim and sells items well. My sister-in-law has even joined with her quilting lines. This has been my dream for a few years and as I can, I have set aside money to make this dream come true. There is nothing prouder than sowing what we have grown and filling our cold storage rooms with yummy, organic food; especially in an economy as such it is. Real employment, no government assistance, and no food stamps. This is the way it should be with people who can make it work. As an added bonus, college classes are incredible and I am making side income as an online teaching assistant to two of my favorite professors.
This is what people who do actually do and accomplish. We have no time for the naysayers and the complainers. It takes more effort to work for a fulfilling cause instead of creating negativity and hate. I know that there will be a person scanning the internet and public records to find what she needs to find but she won't tell the truth anyway. The good that there is in me can't happen according to her and the commotion that she causes with people around her, it's a good thing she lives far away!
Let's say a prayer for all of those who are hurting, who are angry, give them inspiration and encouragement to build better. (Colossians 3:12) "Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."
Make it a great day!
