Journal Post Day 4 - Take Care of Me

Practicing self-care isn’t always easy. Most of us are crazy busy, have stressful jobs, or are too consumed with technology to make time for ourselves. Me-time is usually last on the agenda. Worse, we can sometimes feel guilty about taking the time required to take care of ourselves. So getting started with self-care can be challenging. Fortunately, there are many things I can do to engage in self-care. I can read about self-care strategies, join self-care programs, or work with a coach or therapist who can help support your progress (I am loving my Beachbody coach). No matter what I choose, the goal is to figure out which self-care strategies work best for me, learn how to use these strategies, and implement them in my regular routine so I can boost my well-being not only today but forever. This has become even more important as my world involves college, career, home-bound husband, animals, home and property! I have been researching legal statute in regard to a judgment that we are renewing against our former (and still) woman stalker.

Self-care, which includes nutrition, stress reduction, and exercise, helps keep a person happy, healthy, and resilient.

Me-time is usually last on the agenda for most people, largely due to technology and job stress. I have learned that getting up an hour before normal allows me to enjoy a cup of hot goodness, make the bed

Things like taking a trip or simply getting outside can contribute to lowering one's stress level and increasing life satisfaction. My husband and I love weekend road trips. I will find places that we haven't adventured yet. We love places with natural history.

Last Friday morning, and I mean early morning, my husband had reverse shoulder replacement. It will be a busy eight weeks until he can have full use of his arm. This time, I have arranged for nursing services to check on him while I am at work, at school, and other places that I need be. I have decided that it is okay to use the resources that we pay insurance for every month. At first, I felt selfish, but I am realizing that this is a selfishness that is necessary for me, and it is okay!

Home is ready, meals are ready, his mini fridge is filled with snacks for the day! And his favorites are warm and ready! Rice and tapioca pudding! Enough for the week!
